Traffic Control Person
Description
You have two possibilities to do your exam :
- At one of the open service points : Consult the list of open service points
- Remote with the AQTr :
This training is required to perform Traffic Control Person on roadwork sites administered by the Ministère des Transports of Québec and some municipalities.
This training is recognized by the Ministère des Transports du Québec and the Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST).
The CNESST also requires that the TCP have attended the training course Santé et sécurité générale sur les chantiers de construction (30 hours) of ASP Construction.
This training is only for the Traffic Control Person which control the traffic of the road users. The Site Signal Person, the one who directs the machinery and the heavy vehicles, must rather follow the training Signaleur de chantier.
During this training, you will learn to:
- Describe what is a Traffic Control Person on roadwork sites
- Identify the key elements of roadwork sites
- Differentiate mandatory, recommended and prohibited equipments of the Traffic Control Person on roadwork sites
- Choose a safe area where to stand
- Select appropriate signals and communication modes according to clientele
- Recognize special circumstances

Clientèle
This training course is intended for anyone who wants to become a Traffic Control Person on roadwork sites.
The work of a traffic control person is demanding (it is a job that requires standing for prolonged periods, outside). Therefore, one has to be in good health.
Déroulement
This training program must be completed online. The participant can take this training at home, at his own pace, or at one of our points of service (applicable fees). He can cease the training whenever he likes and resume it later where he left it.
Upon completion of the training and based on successfully completing the certification exam, the participant will obtain a certification (card with photo) and will be able to safely work as a Traffic Control Person on roadwork sites, both in urban and rural areas. The certification will be valid for 3 years.
Upon completion of the training program, the participant will have to pass an exam. He will have two options:
- Make an appointment at one of the open service points
- Do the remote exam with the AQTr :
Durée
The duration of the course is approximately three hours.
Matériel
The training must be completed from a computer. It cannot be done on a tablet or smartphone.
Warning! It is strongly recommended that you do not use Internet Explorer. The lack of stability of this browser often leads to random problems. The use of Chrome or Firefox is preferable.
Here is the list of basic computer components required to take the training course:
- Navigators:
- Google Chrome.
- Firefox 9.0 ou + pour PC
- Firefox 3.6 ou + pour MAC
- Safari 4.0 ou + pour MAC;
- Hign speed or intermediate internet connection;
- Adobe Reader 9.0 ou +
- Flash Player 9.0 ou +.
In order to subscribe to this training program, you need a valid email address.
Attestation
Once the certification exam is completed, the participant will receive an email, within 48 working hours, informing him that he has succeeded or failed the exam.

The certificate card (with a photo) is valid for 3 years.

The initial online certification exam is included*.
Training must be paid by Visa or MasterCard.
Note that it is likely that some prepaid cards will be refused.
*For repeat exams, fees apply and are payable directly at the point of service.
Formation continue
This training program is subject to the Loi favorisant le développement et la reconnaissance des compétences de la main-d'œuvre (the 1% Act).
The hours of training can be eligible under the regulation concerning compulsory continuing education of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, if they allow building skills linked to your work.
