AMB (Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona) manages transport services through two different provision models. While direct management (public operator) is used for the metro and Barcelona’s urban bus networks, indirect management is used for the rest of bus lines inside the metropolitan area. Under indirect management AMB awards bus services to private companies that have entered and won a tendering process. This presentation provides two examples of recently tendered contracts.
