Design of Riyadh Metro System Concrete Viaducts Line 1 and Line 2

This presentation focuses on the design and construction of precast segmental concrete elevated viaducts of the Riyadh Metro Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project Lines 1 and 2 located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. AECOM served as the lead design engineer for this Design-Build project and the presenter served as the lead bridge engineer for the project. Lines 1 and 2 have over 22 km of precast segmental viaducts with more than 6000 precast concrete segments. Spans vary from 28m to 70m with curved radii as tight as 100m. Items related to the design, precast yard, and construction methods will be presented as well as pier and foundation types.
